How Do You Get an Item to Disappear After the Learner Clicks?

October 16, 2018   Yukon Learning    2 Comments

State changes are sometimes overlooked by many new users in Storyline, mainly because they are apprehensive about how they can be used. A question was asked in one of my recent courses about how one might get buttons or other items to disappear when they were clicked. A specific use case might be if you are using a button to start the motion path of another object, but you do not want the button to distract the learner or be “in the way” of the object that is moving, or

How Would I Create My Own Slide Transition?

The user’s understanding of the subject matter is the chief objective when developing e-Learning. Still, once we are positive that we have built something in which communication of the material is effective, there’s still that lingering element that every designer always covets: a little magic, otherwise known as the “Wow Factor.” One way that we like to play magicians at Yukon Learning is by crafting our own custom slide transitions, outside of what Storyline 360 already offers. For example, the learner selects an object, and the items on screen linger

How Can I Use the “=NotAssignment” Trigger in Storyline 360?

December 20, 2017   Yukon Learning    2 Comments

UPDATE! As of October 2019, the Storyline 360 trigger wizard was updated to use the same intuitive language as the triggers panel so it’s consistent and understandable. Learn more about the new trigger workflow here, and then read on! Although not used as often, the “=NotAssignment” (also known as “toggle”) variable/trigger can be a great way to help you create engaging interactions for your learners!

How Can I Highlight Important Information when Users Review Content?

September 15, 2017   Yukon Learning    2 Comments

In a recent custom virtual training, a student asked for help in creating scenario-based courses in Storyline. When the scenario arrived to a point where the learner received a quiz question, they wanted the learner to not only be able to review content they had already seen, but to also highlight important information. The main consideration here was that they did not want the information highlighted on the original slide, only when being reviewed. While there are several ways one might accomplish this, one of the easiest ways is to

Can I Create an Animated “Selected” State?

April 20, 2017   Yukon Learning    Leave a Comment

Storyline makes it easy to create a custom state for any object on your slide. There may be a time where you’d like to use animation instead of a static state change. One question we received recently was, “Can I create an animated Selected state?” The short answer is “Yes,” …so let’s take a look at how you can do it! Add the Selected State To add and/or edit the Selected state of an object, select the item and open the States tab below the slide. Click Edit States and the “New” icon
