As heard in training...

I Completed Articulate Storyline Training, Now What?

October 16, 2025   Yukon Learning    Leave a Comment

You did it! You’ve finished your Articulate Storyline training and received your digital badge or certificate. Perhaps you’ve even shared your excitement about completing a course with us on LinkedIn—and we love to celebrate with you! So, what comes next? It’s a great question!

Like any new skill, building e-learning courses requires practice to get really good at it. To help you keep the ball rolling, we have a few ideas to get you started. Read on as we answer this “as heard in training” question: “I completed Articulate Storyline training, now what?”

I Completed Training, Now What? by the Articulate Trainer

Start With the Optional Exercises

We could talk about all the amazing things Articulate 360 can do all day, but there’s only so much time in class! Your reference guide is chock full of optional exercises that let you build on what you’ve learned. They’re a great way to explore features we didn’t have time to cover.

So open up that reference guide (which is yours to keep forever, by the way), and give those optional exercises a whirl. If you get stuck, just reach out to us. We’re happy to help!

Join Articulate’s E-Learning Heroes Community

The E-Learning Heroes Community is free and full of resources, videos, discussions, and downloads. It’s also where you’ll find the Articulate 360 user guides!

Can’t figure out how to make a slide work the way you want? Go ahead and start a new discussion thread.

Pro tip: Search first! The community has been around for a while, so your question might have already been answered and may even come with a downloadable asset.

Challenge Yourself

While you’re checking out E-Learning Heroes, why not try a challenge? The Articulate Community Team posts a new e-learning challenge every week. The topics range from Rise to Javascript and are designed to get you thinking about new and unique ways to use the tools.

Don’t like this week’s topic? No problem – you can always go back and try a previous challenge. The great thing about the weekly challenge is that there’s no wrong answer or stakeholders to tell you how they would have done it. It’s just a great way to keep your skills sharp alongside other people like you.

Rebuild a Project

Now that you’ve completed training, it’s the perfect time to go back and refresh one of your old courses.

Try adding a new feature you’ve learned, like restricting learners from moving forward or customizing the feedback layers.

You might also want to explore all the great assets in the Articulate Content Library for a modern look and feel.

Reviewing old work with your new skills can be a great way to learn. Even if you don’t plan on republishing a course, you’ll likely have some “aha moments” and realize how you would do things differently this time around.

Find Your Muse

Whenever I present at a conference, I always explain that I’m the least creative person I know. Don’t ask me to pick out paint colors or design a Storyline slide from scratch! But I am good at knowing what I like and replicating it for my own projects.

I’m not suggesting you copy someone else’s work, but when you see a design you like, use it as inspiration for your own courses. I find ideas everywhere, such as:

  • Canva and PowerPoint templates
  • Interactive exhibits at museums
  • Social media posts
  • Even billboards!

Take a screenshot or a picture and ask yourself: “What do I like about this design?”

  • Is it the font?
  • The color palette?
  • The illustration style?
  • The amount of white space?

Once you’ve figured out what you like, try to add your own flair to it in Storyline or Rise.

Take More Training

Now that you’ve completed one of our courses, you may be ready for the next level. If you’ve taken the Storyline Basic class, the Storyline Advanced class would be a great next step.

If you’ve completed our Storyline Advanced class, consider our Storyline Application Workshop or Creating Accessible E-Learning in Articulate 360 offerings. Each course uses different examples, so there’s always something new to learn! Visit our website to view all of our training courses.

I hope these ideas inspire you to keep your Storyline skills sharp! If you have other suggestions, feel free to leave a comment or contact us – we’d love to hear from you!
